 Just What the Family NeededFeb 17, 2010
Presto created a way for our family to communicate with our Matriarch. She loves the mail and is not comfortable with a computer. She now hears and sees the grand and great grandchildren. It perfectly meets our geographically extended family.

A wonderful giftDec 29, 2009
We gave this gift to our 83 year old Grandmother for Christmas. At first she was pretty skeptical about this THING that was going to sit in her living room. We had previously set up all the account information and sent out her new email to family. Her doubt gave way when we plugged the item in and a message and photo from a family member shortly arrived. Now, she loves her inbox!
Grandma used to feel out of the loop when it came to photos and information. She would always say, "I supposed you saw her photos on the internet!". Now Grandma can see them as well.
This machine is very easy to set up. It took us about 20 minutes to get it out of the package and ready to go. She can easily add the paper. Messages simply print out for her to view.
I was worried that it would take away from actually talking to her, but it hasn't. We still call to visit about the photos that were sent or the latest news. It's just a great way for her to know that we're thinking about her during the day, even if we can't call.
I would purchase this product again in a heartbeat. I have been telling all my friends about it. It is simple to set up, simple for us to use, incredibly easy for our 83 year old grandma to use, and keeps us in touch. Grandma is now part of the loop!
I would recommend setting up the email information before giving it as a gift. I think many elderly people would look at this as a strange contraption. Having a picture and email message sent earlier and waiting to print out right away for Grandma went a long way in her understanding exactly what this thing was and helped her to understand how much she was going to like it!

 Be warry of font sizes.Aug 12, 2009
This service is great for the demographic except for one thing. The maximum font size you can program in the system is 16 point. While most folks in their elderly years can read 16 point type, there are individuals that need their text even larger.
It worked fine for my great aunt until a few months ago when her sight started to deteriorate even more.
The company has stated they can't program the system to go any larger than 16 point type. I find this disturbing because they are reducing their demographic considerably for more than likely simple changes to a line of their code.
Not much foresight on their part.

Perfect for the Snail Mail generationAug 11, 2009
We loved this product so much that we bought two more for our other relatives. The website makes it very easy to manage the machines. We can view each printer's status from the same portal and see where the ink level is. This way I can send out a new one when I see that it is getting low. I have now added their email address onto my family email lists and they are kept in the digital loop. TIP - From the website you can also schedule emails to be sent at future dates. Now I setup emails for a month at a time to make sure that my grandmother who is in a home still feels connected. It has made it so much easier for all of our distant family members to keep the grandparents involved.

I absolutely love this and recommend it to anyone who needs to share pictures and letters with a loved one who is 'technically challenged'. We bought this (and the service) for our Grandmother who lives far away and who doesn't own a computer (nor would she be able to operate one). This is a really great way for me to quickly send her photos and quick updates on our family. I love sending photos to her from my iPhone now too!
