Great product for keeping track of your fuel economyNov 10, 2009 I had my eye on a Scangauge for some time. The tipping point was when I was working on my car and wanted an OBD II reader to check the engine codes. The scangauge does this, so it seemed as good a time as any to buy one.
I've been quite impressed by the functionality. The trip function is useful for knowing my overall fuel economy for a drive. I use the scan function for real time information on my fuel economy, coolant temperature, load, engine timing, and a few other numbers. I'm still learning what some of the features are, but I'm already quite satisfied with the product. It satisfies my curiosity about driving optimality. For instance, last night I discovered that for climbing a certain mountain near my house, it's more efficient to drive it in 3rd compared to 4th, as I did before. I've also found that driving a freeway route late at night is less efficient than driving the same route during the day. My guess is that it's due to intake air temperature, but figuring out reasons is another matter.
Excellent PotentialOct 27, 2009 The SG does all it's advertisd to do very well. Using the programable functions requires some effort. I'm glad I have it but haven't gone much beyond basics.
Very useful!Oct 24, 2009 It's great. All I had to do is plugging it into the OBD socket and that's it. Now I can see the car speed, fuel consumption, trip distance, trip cost, and more. It also tells me the error codes the car is sending. I think this gadget is really awesome.
ScanGaugeIIOct 22, 2009 For the automotive enthuasite this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. The simple connection to your OBDII connection in your vechile will give give visually a window to your engines operating charateristics. Highly recommended tool.
Works as advertised until it diedOct 18, 2009 This little data logger was great while it was working. Everything you read from all the other reviewers is relevant. However, in my unfortunate case, the device died just outside of the 1 year manufacturer's warranty. The screen lights up, but no data displays. I am not ready to stomach the price of another unit.
